About NI Trades

Online directory and introduction service connecting homeowners with tradespeople across Northern Ireland. Application-stage checks on every listing — customers must verify current insurance and credentials directly with any tradesperson before any work or payment. We exist to make finding a competent local tradesperson straightforward, transparent and free for homeowners across Northern Ireland.

Why we built NI Trades

Finding a reliable tradesperson in Northern Ireland used to mean asking around, hoping a Facebook group thread would surface someone trustworthy, or paying premium rates to advertise on mainland-UK directories whose vetting standards were unclear.

We thought NI homeowners deserved a directory built specifically for the local market — covering all 58 towns across the 11 statutory council districts, vetted properly, free to post a job, and with a clear, honest set of rules about how listings work.

How we operate

Independent and homeowner-first

We are not owned by any trade body, franchise group or large contractor. Our only customers are the homeowners and tradespeople who use the platform.

Application-stage checks

Every tradesperson is identity-checked and must evidence current public liability insurance before their profile goes live. Our checks happen at application only — they are not ongoing. Insurance and credentials can lapse afterwards, so customers must always verify cover and credentials directly with the tradesperson before any work begins or any money is paid.

No bidding wars

Tradespeople express interest in your job — they do not bid against each other. Up to three are surfaced. You choose who to contact.

Privacy by default

Your contact details are never published. Tradespeople only see your job description until you choose to connect with one of them.
