About · Northern Ireland

Built here. For here.

NI Trades is an independent Northern Ireland platform connecting homeowners with vetted local tradespeople. Named editor. Transparent methodology. No per-lead fees.

Why we built it

Because finding a good NI trade is harder than it should be

Finding a reliable tradesperson in Northern Ireland still mostly means asking around, hoping a Facebook group thread surfaces someone trustworthy, or paying premium rates to advertise on mainland-UK directories whose vetting standards are unclear and whose “leads” are sold to half a dozen trades at once.

NI homeowners deserved a directory built specifically for the local market - covering all 58 towns across the 11 statutory council districts, vetted properly at the point of application, free to post a job, and with a clear, honest set of rules about how listings work.

Good NI tradespeople deserved a platform that did not bleed them on per-lead fees, did not auction them off against five others, and did not own the customer relationship for the next ten years. That is what NI Trades is for, for homeowners and tradespeople equally.

What makes us different

Not another UK-wide lead-broker. Built here, for trades and homeowners alike.

Six honest differences between NI Trades and the platforms you already know.

Northern Ireland only

Every trade and every job is in NI. We do not ship your enquiry to a builder in Devon to "match" you.

No per-lead fees

Trades pay a flat monthly fee, never per lead. You are not paying £42 to find out a job is already gone.

No bidding wars

A maximum of three trades see your job. They do not bid against each other. You choose who to contact.

Vetted at onboarding

Identity, insurance, trade credentials and references checked before any profile goes live.

You own the relationship

Homeowner and trade talk directly. We are not in the middle taking a cut on every job for the next ten years.

Built here, by NI people

Made in Northern Ireland for the Northern Ireland market. Local team, local platform, local accountability.

How we operate

Two principles that are not negotiable

Independent

We are not owned by any trade body, franchise group or large contractor. Our only customers are the homeowners and tradespeople who use the platform.

Privacy by default

Your contact details are never published. Tradespeople only see your job description until you choose to connect with one of them.

Vetting at onboarding

How we check every tradesperson

Every trade that lists on NI Trades is checked at application stage. Customers must re-verify on the day of hire.

Identity verified

Photo ID checked against the application before the listing goes live.

Insurance evidenced

Current public liability insurance certificate seen, with cover dates noted.

Credentials verified

Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, FENSA, OFTEC, HETAS or FMB checked directly on each public register.

References taken

Two recent customer references collected and followed up by phone.

Companies House

Cross-checked on Companies House for registered Ltd companies - address, directors, filing status.

Vetting happens at application only. Insurance and credentials can lapse afterwards. Always re-verify directly with the tradesperson before any work or any money changes hands.

The team

Small NI team. Named where it counts.

The platform is small on purpose. We name people publicly when they’re ready to be the public face of their role, rather than pad the page with stock-photo executives.

The wider team

Vetting, support and platform

  • Vetting: checking insurance, ID and trade-register status before a profile goes live.
  • Support: first-line help for homeowners and trades using the platform.
  • Platform: the engineering that runs nitrades.co.uk, hosted in the EU.

We name individuals here as the team grows and each person is comfortable being public. Until then, the fastest way to reach the right person is hello@nitrades.co.uk.
