Really impressed with Darren and his crew, completed a side return extension for us in 2025. Workman ship was top class, nothing was to much hassle few changes throughout the process guys dealt with them no bother. Couldn't recommend more. Top lads.

About
DC Builders

DC Builders is a Belfast-based building contractor founded in 2019. We're a 16-strong team running two to three crews at any given time, working on extensions, full home renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and small-to-mid new-build domestic projects across Greater Belfast. We've grown deliberately — every site has a named project lead who's on it from first ground-break to final snag.

What do you specialise in?
Rear and wraparound extensions, full property renovations where we co-ordinate joinery, plastering, plumbing and electrics under one project plan, small new-builds, and the occasional commercial fit-out for cafés or small offices. Two of our crews run residential, one runs light commercial — you'll know which one is on your job before we start.
What sets you apart from other tradespeople?
Three things. Every job is fixed-price in writing within five working days of the site visit — no surprises mid-build. Every job runs under one named project lead so you've always got one phone number, not five. And almost nothing is sub-contracted — we have full-time in-house joiners, plasterers and groundworkers, plus our own plant.
What kind of jobs do you love taking on?
Mid-budget full renovations where we can manage the whole job under one roof — rip-out to handover. Wraparound extensions on family homes that need real structural work done properly with engineer drawings. Smaller commercial fit-outs where a business owner wants one number to call and a fixed date to open the doors.
How do you ensure quality on every job?
Every project ships with a written programme and weekly milestones — you can see exactly where we are on the build any given Friday. The crew foreman signs off the previous trade's work before the next one comes in, no hand-off slippage. Every job ends with a two-week post-handover snagging visit included in the quote. We're CHAS-accredited and Constructionline Gold for the commercial side.
What should homeowners know before contacting you?
Typically booked 8-12 weeks out for new starts — get in touch as early as you can if you've got a target completion date. We cover Belfast, Lisburn & Castlereagh, Ards & North Down, and Antrim & Newtownabbey. We're set up for projects from around £25k upwards — below that you'd usually be better served by a single-crew local builder, and we're happy to point you towards one. Free site visits and fixed-price quotes either way.

Extensions
Side Return Extension

Side return extension on a 1905 Victorian terrace. Demolished the side return + rear walls, dropped in a goalpost steel across the new opening, built out into a 4.5m wide kitchen-diner. Full-length pitched-glass rooflights. Kept and exposed the original brick chimney breast as a feature wall. Bespoke oak-veneered units, quartz worktops, engineered oak flooring throughout. Family stayed in the house the full 18-week build — temporary kitchen in the utility, dust managed with zip walls. Snagging visit two weeks post-handover; zero items to revisit.

Kitchen
Hand-built kitchen · Malone Road Victorian terrace

Hand-built kitchen in a Malone Road Victorian terrace, south Belfast. The 3-metre ceilings let us run full-height shaker cabinetry right up to the original plaster cornice — no gap, no soffit, just one clean vertical line into the period detail. Painted in a soft sage green, brushed brass ironmongery throughout, honed Carrara marble worktops. Integrated banquette seating in the original bay window with concealed storage under the cushions. 9-week build, family moved out for the duration.
